My name is Emerson Leiske and I am currently a junior at THS. This is my third year in the leadership class and my position is ASB treasurer. After holding the position of freshman class president and sophomore class president. I am so excited to move up to ASB and not only help lead my class but the whole student body. One of my favorite goals is to make every student who walks on campus happy and comfortable. Especially after being online for the past year. One other activity I am involved in, is being a third year member and co-captain of the Tracy High Dance Team. I love getting to teach and share my love and passion for dance with my fellow peers. Outside of school, I am a competitive dancer at D2M Dance Project and I have been dancing for 14 years. A hope that I have for the school year is to get back onto campus like we never left, to have students feel comfortable at school, and to get people involved because having school spirit is so much fun. Things I like outside of school are Disney, dancing, working out, hanging out with my friends, and jamming out to music! My after high school dreams... and hopefully soon a reality are to attend a four year college where I can try-out for their dance team! Another goal is to become either a sports medicine doctor or orthopedist. Going to these type of doctors has taught me that I want to help people heal as much as these doctors have helped me. Lastly, my main personal goal for this year is to meet new people, gain more confidence, and to step out of my comfort zone in and out of the classroom.
Because of my age I have not gotten much work experience, but dancing at my dance studio has helped me work with people and especially kids in ways I have not before. I started helping my teacher as a T.A. (teacher assistant) at the age of 12 and enjoyed getting that work experience. To not only deal with children from ages 2-18 but parents and adults.
Education History Elementary School: Louis Bohn Elementary School (2009-2015) Middle School: Earle E. Williams (2016-2019) High School: Tracy High School (2019- present) In elementary school, I did not join student council as I did not know what it had to offer. In middle school, I joined leadership and it was the best decision I have ever made. My eighth grade year I was vice president and had to learn a lot and matured a lot to prepare myself for high school leadership. This is my third year at Tracy High where I was freshman class president, sophomore class president, and now ASB treasurer. My job in that class is so fun and awesome. I am very thankful to be apart of such a welcoming and hard working family. All together this is my fifth year in a leadership class. I am a second year member of the Ag/Sci program. I did not join my freshman year but knew I needed more of a push and a challenge going into sophomore year. Transferring into the program has helped me break out of my shell and be able to take in information quicker.
Dance Education I am a three year member of the Tracy High dance team where I am co-captain and work closely with our head coach and the captain. I have to lead warm ups that consist of cardio, stretching, and muscle strengthening. The captain and I also choregraph dances for games and sidelines. To be able to make a dance with formation, timing, visuals, and more takes skill and a lot of training. I have been dancing for 14 years at D2M dance Project. Starting off at the age of two and now being 16 I have gained a lot of knowledge, responsibility, friends, skill, and the most amazing life style. At the age of 12, I knew I wanted to get more serious in my dance career and started an Instagram that now has a following of almost 5,000 followers. It has not only given me more dance opportunities but also modeling. I also have type one diabetes. I joined T1D awareness and my love for dance and called it @emersont1dancer.
These two quotes mean a lot to me. Getting older and maturing is realizing that I have to enjoy the journey and take it step by step. People come into your life and the same people can walk out of your life. I have found appreciating what I have instead of what has left is so helpful and helps you see your life in a better, more positive light. Especially recently I have taken the time to read motivational quotes every day because sometimes you need those words of encouragement. I downloaded an app that gives me self-affirmations and daily quotes. I am a strong believer of the saying "keep on keeping on" because there will be many bumps in the road and it is your choice to face those struggles and come out an even better person!
